Step 1: Gather all the materials needed for this tutorial:
- several pieces of rubber sponges (assorted colors)
- a small plastic cup (e.g. yogurt, etc.)
- a small piece of styrofoam
- thin wires
- small side cutting pliers
- blue acrylic paint
- paint brush
- double-sided tape
- hot glue
- a pair of scissors
Step 2: Wrap the outer body of the plastic cup with double-sided tape.
Step 3: Crumple a considerable size of the newspaper. This will be used to design the outer lining of the plastic cup.
Step 4: Wrap the crumpled newspaper around the outer body of the plastic cup. Make sure to preserve the crumpled effect of the newspaper for better results.
Step 5: Cut the excess newspaper on the sides and the bottom part of the cup.
Step 6: Paint the crumpled newspaper.
Step 7: Let the paint dry for 30 minutes to an hour.
Step 8: Cut a pair of small, balloon-shaped rubber sponges. Have at least 5 to 6 pairs of these.
Step 9: Align the pair of rubber sponge balloons and hot glue them halfway.
Step 10: Carefully insert ample amounts of cotton inside each balloon.
Step 11: Seal each balloon with hot glue.
Step 12: Cut a circle from the Styrofoam. The styrofoam should fit in the diameter of the plastic cup’s mouth.
Step 13: Insert the Styrofoam inside the plastic cup and secure it with a hot glue to make it sturdier.
Step 14: Cut random a random length of wires that will be used to hold the balloon in place.
Step 15: Insert the wires on the bottom tip of the balloon sponges. If you want to avoid unnecessary movements on it, you can secure it with a little bit of hot glue on the base.
Step 16: Place the balloons on the plastic cup or the mini pot. Carefully insert each wire into the Styrofoam base. Arrange the balloons according to height.
Step 17: Cut a small rectangle of white rubber sponge and glue it to an orange rubber sponge. Cut the orange rubber sponge in reference to the white one. This will be the message block.
Step 18: Write your simple but sweet message. Insert a wire at the bottom of the message block.
Step 19: Place the message block in the middle of the balloons.
Step 20: Finally finished! You now have a colorful balloon tabletop decoration that will wow your guests at any event!
This tabletop decoration can also be edited based on your preference and based on the occasion as well. Have fun making this! Enjoy!
