Gather all the materials needed for this tutorial:
- a baby diaper (size would depend on the size of your dog)
- a paper hole puncher
- a black Velcro
- a pair of scissors
Step 1: Unfold your baby diaper.
Step 2: Fold one side of the widest part of the front of the diaper.
Step 3: Insert the folded side of the front diaper to the paper hole puncher. Carefully punch a hole on this. Do the same thing on the opposite side of the front flap of the diaper.
Step 4: You should now have a pair of holes on both ends of the front face of the diaper.
Step 5: Unfold and stretch the back face of the diaper.
Step 6: Fold the sides of the widest back part of the diaper and insert it on the paper hole puncher. Punch a hole on it and do the same thing on the opposite side of the diaper’s back face.
Step 7: The back of the diaper should look like this when done.
Step 8: Cut the black Velcro in a width that will fit the holes that you punch on the diaper.
Step 9: Separate the two layers of the Velcro.
Step 10: Put the two layers of the Velcro together on one end. The total length of the Velcro, when connected, should fit the entire body of your dog when wrapped around. The overlapping layer should be at least 3 to 5 centimeters. This will still depend on how big your dog is.
Step 11: Insert the linked Velcro on the holes made at one end of the diaper.
Step 12: Do the same thing on the opposite side of the diaper hole on the same side.
Step 13: The back of the diaper with Velcro should look like this when properly placed.
Step 14: Fold the lower half of the front face of the diaper. Cut a small slit in the middle of it. This will accommodate the tail of your dog. Make an approximation as to how big the slit may be.
Step 15: Try stretching the hole so that it will be comfortable when your dog’s tail is placed later on.
Step 16: Carefully insert your dog’s tail on the hole provided.
Step 17: Fix the back of the diaper or the lower part of the diaper to fit in between the rear legs of your dog. Make sure that this is not too loose nor too tight so that your dog would be comfortable whenever she or he walks.
Step 18: Insert the excess ends from the back face of the diaper to the holes on the sides of the front face of the diaper. Do these on both sides.
Step 19: Meet the free ends of the Velcro to close the dog diaper. Take note of the proper fitting of the diaper to your pet. This is highly adjustable so you won’t be having any problems at all.
Step 20: Check if your dog is comfortable with it and make necessary adjustments if needed. If everything is fine, then you already have your fast and innovative dog diaper!
