Are you planning to buy a toy for your playful dog? Do you want to give fun to your dog and eliminate their boredom while you are out? Or you are simply limited to your budget and want to give the best for your fur baby? If that rings a bell, then this tutorial is for you!
The pyramid is a three-dimensional triangle. This is a perfect shape for dog toys since it has equal sides and it will give the same pleasure to your dog regardless which side they are in. The shape is also perfect since it can stand on its own and will perfectly stick in your dog’s mouth anytime. This is purely safe and will deliver the needed fun-factor to your pooches. And most of all, this dog toy is pocket-friendly. So if you have some time to spare for this, then let us begin sewing now!
Prepare all the materials needed for this tutorial:
- 3 to 4 colors of soft crafting felt
- a small piece of thin cloth
- nylon cotton filling
- a sewing needle
- sewing thread
- a small bell or any plastic squeeze and sound object
- a pair of scissors
Step 1: Cut four identical pieces of triangles from the soft crafting felt. The sizes should be relative to the size of your dog.
Step 2: Thread the needle with a sewing thread. The color would depend on your preference. Make sure to create a loop at the end before you start sewing.
Step 3: Arrange the four triangles in a slightly overlapping position creating a big triangle. The three triangles are placed below as the base, one of which is placed upside down and the remaining triangle should be placed on top of the three triangles.
Step 4: Sew one side of the two triangles together using a running stitch. It is better to use a small-spaced running stitch since our pooches will tend to bite this toy hardly oftentimes. This will prevent the toy from being ruined that easy.
Step 5: Get and align another triangle at the other side of the first sewn part. sew this next side with the same stitch.
Step 6: Sew the pieces of the triangle together in one triangle until you form the big triangle that was formed from the former procedure.
Step 7: Once the triangle is properly sewn on one base triangle on the bottom, you should have an opened three-dimensional triangle from the topmost part.
Step 8: Sew the sides of this three-dimensional triangle together using the same running stitch.
Step 9: Make sure to leave a small opening on the three-dimensional triangle that you have sewn.
Step 10: Reverse the triangle inside out and make sure to push the pointed ends of the triangle out to achieve a perfect pyramid. Set aside for a while.
Step 11: Fold the small thin cloth and cut it based on the size of the small squeeze and sound object. This can also be a small jingle bell or anything that can produce a sound. Make sure to have some allowance on the sides of the cloth. This will house the sound producing object, thus making it safer to the dog.
Step 12: Insert or sandwich the sound producing object on the cloth and sew the cloth around the object using a running stitch. Set aside for a while.
Step 13: Generously fill the pyramid with nylon cotton filling through the small hole.
Step 14: Carefully insert the housed sound-producing object on the pyramid. Make sure that this is placed in the middle of the pyramid toy.
Step 15: Seal the hole of the pyramid by stitching it using a running stitch.
Step 16: Fix the form of the pyramid to fairly distribute the fillings inside.
Step 17: You can now give the toy your lovable dog.
Step 18: Finally done! Your dog can now enjoy his or her own new pyramid toy!
This pyramid toy is tested tough and is safe for your lovable pooches. They love the pointed edges of the pyramid thus give them the extra push to play further. The sound that is produced every time they bite the toy would add some fun to them while playing. This toy perfectly works with our toy poodle, so we do hope you dog like this one too! Have fun!
